Former President Bill Clinton will give the keynote address at a symposium in Philadelphia designed to bring attention to the eroding financial condition of state governments.
The Tuesday meeting of the State Budget Crisis Task Force is at the National Constitution Center and gets underway at 8:30 a.m. with remarks by co-chairs Paul Volcker and Richard Ravitch.
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell also will speak.
Panels at the symposium will discuss the need for greater cooperation between states and the federal government and some policy changes states can make to improve their finances.
Also appearing will be Jim Douglas, the former Vermont governor, and John Sununu, the former New Hampshire governor.
