Police to step up DUI enforcement efforts for Memorial Day weekend
The Pennsylvania State Police are reminding drivers to be safe as we begin the Memorial Day weekend.
Reading-based troopers will be conducting roving DUI patrols and a DUI checkpoint over the weekend.
They said they don't want to have to respond to crashes that could have been preventable.
Troopers remind everyone who's planning to party to designate a driver and drink responsibly.
"We want to make sure that we get off the summer season to a good start and we don't want to have to have people already looking at a DUI to start the summer," said Tpr. David Beohm. "Let's start it off smart and be safe about it."
Beohm reminds all drivers the legal limit in Pennsylvania is .08.
