Students may be allowed to keep concealed weapons on campuses
Policy yet to be drafted for 14 state universities
Students at state colleges in Pennsylvania may be allowed to keep concealed weapons on campus.
Officials with the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is considering a system-wide policy on weapons, rather than having each individual institution making its own policy.
Ken Marshall of the PSSHE says a task force was set up in April to look at all aspects of security and public safety on the college campuses.
Marshall says a system-wide policy has not been drafted yet and public forums will be scheduled in the near future to discuss that policy.
The PSSHE represents 14 universities: Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, California University of Pennsylvania, Cheyney, Clarion, Edinboro, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, University of Pennsylvania, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock and West Chester.
