As temperatures are expected to approach near triple-digit highs with thick humidity Friday, senior centers across Bucks Co. are extending their hours to try and help the elderly beat the heat.
In response to the excessive heat warnings, the Bucks Co. Commissioners announced they will keep open five senior centers until 6:00 p.m. (Complete list below)
The Area Agency on Aging (AAA) notes that while everyone can be at rish of heat related illnesses, senior can be especially vulnerable to things like heat stroke or exhaustion.
Officials are reminding the public to check frequently on elderly neighbors, friends and family members. Symptoms of a possible heat injury include faintness, dizziness, nausea, weakness, and heavy sweating (more info can be found on the CDC web site).
