NOCKAMIXON TWP., Pa. -

The new gas drilling moratorium in Montgomery and Bucks counties has stopped a project in its tracks.

The state Department of Environmental Protection has returned a drilling application from Turm Oil of Butler County.

The company wanted to drill at the former Cabot chemical plant site in Nockamixon Township.

The DEP says it won't grandfather in any pending drilling permits and Turm Oil might have to re-file its permit depending on the outcome of the legal challenge to Act 13.

That's the law that allows counties to impose impact fees on drillers.

Nockamixon Township is one of several municipalities challenging the zoning provisions in Act 13.
