Ex-Sen. Vincent Fumo moved from prison to hospital for heart issues
An imprisoned former state senator from Philadelphia has been hospitalized with heart problems.
Vincent Fumo has been moved from his cell in Ashland, Ky., to a nearby hospital after doctors discovered three artery blockages.
Fumo's son, Vincent Fumo II, confirmed the hospitalization. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported doctors have recommended Fumo undergo heart bypass surgery.
The once powerful Democratic lawmaker has been serving a five-year sentence after being convicted in 2009 of defrauding the Senate, a neighborhood nonprofit and a seaport museum.
A call to Fumo's attorney was not returned Thursday night.
Fumo, 69, is scheduled to be released later this year.
