A local animal rescue could cash in, thanks to one of the most popular names in daytime television -- but they need your help.
Little Millie is finally ready to go home. The puppy's new owner spent two months trying to find her.
"She's adorable!", said new owner Aishwarya Laxman. "She's playful, she's pretty much everything I'd like in a dog."
The search brought her to Bucks County's Last Chance Ranch.
"We rescue any and all domestic livestock, companion animals," said Lori McCutcheon, the rescue's founder and president.
But doing that work is expensive.
"It costs us over $500,000 a year just to run an organization like this," she said.
The Ranch in Richland Twp. could get an infusion of cash -- from a contest on The Rachael Ray Show. If Last Chance Ranch can adopt out at least 200 more animals by the end of this month, or meet certain other adoption targets, they can win big cash prizes.
"The grand prize is $100,000 and then there's multiple prizes in between, of $1,000 to $5,000 to $10,000," said McCutcheon.
Directors there insist they are not compromising their adoption standards just to get the numbers up.
"[Adoptees] still have to have a veterinary reference," said McCutcheon. "They have to give us personal references that are non-related."
Last Chance Ranch has already adopted out 60 percent more animals than last year, putting it into the running for a Facebook contest for even more money.
"We have to be on Facebook and have the public vote for us --- starting next Wednesday, every day, once a day, until the contest ends," said McCutcheon.
