WARRINGTON, Pa. -

A Bucks County district judge has determined sufficient evidence exists against psychiatrist Basem Shlewiet of Doylestown to send the case against him to trial.

Shlewiet is accused of inappropriately touching female patients he was supposed to be helping.

Magisterial District Judge Mark D. Douple of Warrington made that ruling following a preliminary hearing on the charges Tuesday.

Shlewiet initially was facing indecent assault charges based on allegations from three female patients -- two of them 14 and 17 years old --but now faces 10 additional indecent assault charges. All the females maintain the defendant touched them in a criminal manner.

After being arrested on Jan. 23, Schlewiet was committed to the Bucks County Correctional Facility, unable to post $250,000 bail.
