"Police officers would rather be making sure traffic flows smoothly than picking up the pieces after a horrific accident," said Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor (R).

Police in Montgomery County are cracking down on aggressive driving on and around Route 30.

A new initiative known as "HEAT on 30" has been introduced.

Police are trying to reduce the number of accidents due to aggressive driving.

Cops will be on the lookout for speeding, tailgating and red-light running on the Route 30 corridor from Pittsburgh to Philly.

HEAT will be in place until August 15th.
