Officials in Montgomery County are investigating an incident where they say a suspect fired at a police officer.

According to Montgomery County District attorney Risa Vetri Ferman, around 10:30 Saturday evening, New Hanover Township Police responded to a reported 911 call at a residence in the 2300 block of Colflesh Road.

When arriving on scene, authorities said an officer was alerted to a problem along the road and saw a Mercedes SUV fleeing from a driveway.  The officer immediately activated the emergency equipment on the marked vehicle in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Officials said the car continued driving erratically on several surrounding roads, then went back into its driveway on Colflesh Road.

The police officer then engaged in a foot pursuit of the suspect, later identified as Daniele Jobson, 56.  Jobson ran through his garage and into a second floor stairway, according to officials, and when the officer approached the stairway, they said Jobson fired a shot toward it.  As the officer took cover, he said he heard a second gunshot inside the bedroom.

The police officer found Jobson inside the bedroom dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Officials said Jobson was involved in a domestic disturbance inside his house prior to his flight from the residence and pursuit by police.

The officer was not injured during the incident.
