The US Olympic Committee is asking if either Philadelphia or Pittsburgh would be interested in hosting the 2024 Summer Games.

Letters have been sent out to gauge interest among the nation's 25 largest cities and 10 others that could possibly handle such a marquee event.

Philadelphia was among five cities that made presentations to the USOC in 2006 for a shot at the 2016 games but ultimately was cut before the final round.

City officials have yet to comment on the issue.
