POTTSTOWN, Pa. -

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is handing out potassium iodide tablets to people who live near nuclear power plants.

Pills were available at the Pottstown Health Center in Pottstown, Montgomery Co., for people near the Limerick Generating Station.

The pills are meant to be used during emergencies near the plants.

"Once they hear information from the governor or an official from the health department that it's time to evacuate, take your K-I pills, that's when you're supposed to take your pills," said Mike Baysinger, deputy director for personal health services.

If you weren't able to pick up the pills in person Thursday, contact the health department.
