Popular Delaware River footbridge in Bucks County closes for repairs
The footbridge that connects the Lumberville section of Solebury Township,
Pa. with Bulls Island State Park in Delaware Township, N.J., will be closed to the public use beginning 7 a.m. Monday, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today.
The shutdown at the Lumberville-Raven Rock Toll-Supported Pedestrian Bridge will remain in place for two months so contractors can carry out a comprehensive rehabilitation of the bridge’s superstructure and approaches.
A portion of the Delaware Canal’s footpath on the bridge’s Pennsylvania side also will be closed off to the public for safety reasons during the two-month period while construction activities are taking place.
The Commission urges hikers, bicyclists and sightseers to plan accordingly while the bridge and adjoining canal path section is closed off to public use.
To the north, the next river crossing is 9.2 miles upriver at the Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Toll-Supported Bridge. To the south, the next crossing is 3.4 miles downriver at the Centre Bridge-Stockton Toll-Supported Bridge.
The Commission has created a specific webpage to provide the public with additional information about the project.
