Quakertown Council approves several resolutions
The Quakertown Borough Council moved swiftly through the meeting agenda on Wednesday night and adjourned the meeting just over 30 minutes after the start.
Council Vice President Donald E. Rosenberger started off the committee reports with revenue and finance. Rosenberger brought resolutions regarding the Quakertown Fire Department, a confidentiality agreement, the resignation of the Electric Department Superintendent, and a refinance policy to the Council and all were unanimously approved. The Council approved to release $80,000 from the Fire Capital Fund to go to the Quakertown Fire Department to purchase new EMS equipment.
The Council also approved the resignation of John Molnar as the Electric Department Superintendent effective August 1st of this year. Rosenberger expressed his, as well as the Council’s, gratitude for Molnar’s 46 years of service for the Borough and wishes Molnar “all the best in his future endeavors.”
The Borough also approved an agreement with Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority that has been in the works for several years. This agreement focuses on interceptor improvements, upgrades and expansions.
“After eight years could there be any question about this motion?” laughed Council President L. James Roberts after a motion and second was made to approve the agreement.
The Council unanimously approved the agreement and informed the audience that the Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority would vote on the agreement on October 9th.
“After lengthy negotiations, we are confident that they will agree,” said Councilman David R. Erwin.
