Staffer of doctor charged with murder describes chaos at Pa. abortion clinic
Kermit Gosnell on trial in deaths of woman patient, 7 newborns
A former Philadelphia abortion clinic worker said he routinely saw newborn babies killed with scissors at the clinic run by a doctor charged with murder.
But unlicensed doctor Stephen Massof also believes Dr. Kermit Gosnell was trying to help "abused and neglected" women seeking abortions.
Gosnell, 72, is on trial in the deaths of a woman patient and seven newborns.
Massof awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to third degree murder for two infant deaths. Eight clinic employees have pleaded guilty to various charges, while a ninth is on trial with Gosnell.
Massof smiled Thursday as he gave graphic testimony about the clinic. He said Gosnell suggested it was a financial sacrifice to practice inner-city medicine.
Yet prosecutors said he made millions and kept $250,000 in cash under his mattress.
