UPPER MERION TWP., Pa. -

It was a horrifying scene Tuesday evening in Montgomery County as a 14-year-old girl plunged from the eighth floor of an apartment building.

The girl died overnight, said Upper Merion Township police, who noted that the girl fell from the Marquis Apartments on DeKalb Pike shortly after 6 p.m.

The girl was apparently climbing out of the window and fell, landing on the roof of a parking garage below, police said.

The incident, they said, appears to be a tragic accident.

Police are not releasing the girl's name.
