UPPER MERION TWP., Pa. -

Officials in Montgomery County say a 14-year-old girl who fell from an eighth story window was trying to sneak out after being grounded by her foster parents.

Officials say the girl used a makeshift rope to try and climb down from her apartment in Upper Merion Township on Tuesday.

She was taken to the hospital after falling onto a garage roof and died a short time later.

Officials say they are confident all foster care procedures were followed correctly by the parents.

The name of the girl has not been released.
