Woman, 19, charged in kidnapping, rape of Philly schoolgirl
A 19-year-old woman has been charged in the abduction of a 5-year-old girl from her elementary school in Philadelphia last month.
Christina Regusters was charged Thursday night with kidnapping, conspiracy, aggravated assault, rape, and other offenses, said Special Victims Unit Capt. John Darby.
Regusters worked at an after-school care program attended by the victim, said Darby.
The girl was taken by a woman posing as her mother. She was found early the next morning at a playground wearing only a T-shirt.
Regusters' attorney, Fred Harrison Jr., said Regusters had "noinvolvement" in the crime.
An attorney for the girl and her mother, Tom Kline, said the arrest was aided by the girl's report to police that there was a talking bird at the home where she was taken.
