Attempted child luring reported in Hatfield borough
Police looking for a work van with fender damage
A man tried to lure a 9-year-old boy into his vehicle Monday morning in the borough of Hatfield, Montgomery County.
The attempted child luring happened at 10 a.m. Monday at Wheatfield Circle in the borough, report Hatfield Township police.
Police said the boy was riding his bicycle when a man driving a red or maroon "work type van" pulled up next to him. The driver told the boy to get into the vehicle, but the boy fled.
Police report the suspect also quickly left the area. He is described as being in his mid-30s, with a salt-and-pepper colored goatee. His race is not known.
The vehicle reportedly has damage to the fender on the driver's side. A partial Pennsylvania license plate of YHE was obtained by a witness.
Police encourage parents to speak with their children about personal safety and dealing with strangers.
