Authorities on lookout for police impersonator in Chester Co.
Law enforcement officials are on the lookout for someone who impersonated an officer in Chester County last week.
North Coventry Twp. police said a man, possibly pretending to be a police officer, pulled over a car last Wednesday around 9:30 p.m. on Route 100 south in the area of Hofecker Road.
The impersonator is described as a white man, around 50 years old, with a mustache, goatee, and salt and pepper colored hair.
He was also wearing a tan campaign-style trooper hat with a white long-sleeved shirt and unknown type of badge.
He was driving an unknown make/model vehicle with flashing lights on the dashboard.
Police said the man approached the victim's vehicle and told her she was speeding.
He made the woman get out while he searched her car, police said, then he drove away.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the North Coventry Twp. Police Department at 610-323-8360.
Police said anyone who is uncertain whether an unmarked vehicle is actually a police officer is encouraged to activate their emergency flashers, proceed to and stop in a well-lit, populated area and dial 911 for confirmation that the officer is indeed an actual police officer.
Operators can also request that a second officer in a marked car respond to the scene for verification, police said.
