Carl Anthony Goodwin, suspect in Philadelphia bank robberies, nabbed in Reading

A man wanted in the robberies of multiple banks in Philadelphia has been arrested in Reading, officials said Thursday.

The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force captured Carl Anthony Goodwin at a home in the 400 block of Brookline Plaza around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.

Goodwin, 27, fled from a federal halfway house in Philadelphia in early June after serving time for two previous bank robberies, officials said.

Days later, on June 17, Goodwin robbed a Dunkin Donuts at 3705 Germantown Ave,, in Philadelphia, at gunpoint, officials said.

He's also a suspect in the subsequent robberies of five banks in the city in June and July 2013. Those robberies are as follows:

The U.S. Marshals credited numerous agencies for their involvement in Wednesday night’s arrest and the five-week fugitive investigation, including the Berks County sheriff’s office, Philadelphia police detectives and the FBI.
