Construction worker trapped when roof collapses at Bucks County site
A man working on a construction site in Bucks County Thursday was taken to the hospital after a building collapsed and trapped him.
It happened around 9 a.m. in the 2300 block of Heritage Center Drive in Buckingham Township. Officials said roof trusses on the single story building collapsed and pinned the worker.
"It took about an hour to safely remove the individual by ladders. He had to be removed from the trusses using some spreading equipment and some other cutting and support equipment to keep the building stabilized," said Chief Greg Jakubowski with the Lingohocken Fire Co.
"In situations like this you want to take your time when there's potential crushing injuries," said Chief Charles Pressler with Central Bucks Ambulance. "We treated him for crushing injuries prior to his extrication."
Emergency responders said the man was stable at the scene and was flown to Temple University Hospital.
There was no word on the name or condition of the victim or what caused the collapse. OSHA and Buckingham Township officials are looking into the incident.
