Kyle Allen accused of trying to choke trooper during ride to police HQ
Police say Allen faces additional charges from disturbance at Philadelphia Folk Festival
A Philadelphia man is accused of assaulting a police officer at a recent music festival.
Kyle Allen, 22, was arrested August 19 around 10:45 p.m. at the Philadelphia Folk Festival in Upper Salford Twp., Montgomery County.
Police said Allen was drunk, combative with festival employees, and arrested for creating a disturbance. He was found with a fake bracelet which allowed him access into the festival.
He was charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
While he was being taken to state police headquarters in Skippack, police said Allen was able to free his hands and tried to choke the trooper from behind as the officer was driving. Allen then kicked the trooper in the face as the officer tried to get control, police said.
Police then tacked on additional charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Bail was set at $20,000, and Allen was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility when he couldn't post bail.
