DURHAM TWP., Pa. -

A 22-year-old man is facing charges after police say he led them on a high speed chase in Bucks County.

State police said they were trying to stop a gray 2006 Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer for multiple traffic violations around 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 2 at Route 611 at Delaware Road in Riegelsville when the driver pulled back onto southbound Rt. 611, with speeds approaching 130 mph in a 35 mph zone.

The driver, later identified as Zachary Cernok, led police through Riegelsville Borough into Durham Twp., turning onto Route 212. Police said Cernok' accelerated his car again to very high rates of speed, and the police chase was called off due to safety reasons.

Police were able to get a partial Pa. license plate, which was traced to Cernok, who had several previous traffic violations.

Charges of fleeing and eluding are pending against Cernok.
