Police: Matthew DeShields tries to sell neighbor's snowblower on Craig's List
It wasn't exactly a gesture of being neighborly.
Police in Montgomery County say a man allegedly stole a snowblower from his neighbor's back patio and tried to sell it on Craig's List.
On Monday, the victim reported the theft of the snowblower, valued at $400, from his home in the 1000 block of Pioneer Road in Towamencin Twp.
On Tuesday, the victim told police he found a listing on Craig's List that sounded like his snowblower.
Police said the victim actually contacted the seller, identified as 24-year-old Matthew DeShields, and police went with him to get the snowblower.
An investigation showed that DeShields had taken the snowblower from the Pioneer Road home, police said.
DeShields' home in the 700 block of Finnel Drive, Towamencin Twp., is not far from the Pioneer Road residence, police said.
He was arrested and charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
He was released pending issuance of a summons.
