Bucks County officials are awaiting toxicology results, which could take several weeks, before ruling on the cause of death of a 29-year-old Philadelphia woman who died in the county prison Sunday.
Valene Karaharisis was found dead in her jail cell, where she had been incarcerated for credit car theft.
No foul play is suspected, according to county spokesman Chris Edwards.
Bucks County Coroner Joseph Campbell said the deceased woman was a two-to-three bag-a-day heroin user going through detoxification in the prison. But she had refused medication until shortly before her death.
The coroner said an autopsy was performed and no signs of injuries were reported. He said toxicology results won't be available for four to six weeks.
