Red Cross sets up website to help tornado victims contact loved ones
The Red Cross is offering assistance to those in the Philadelphia area with loved ones affected by the tornado near Oklahoma City.
The organization is providing a website for residents in the Philadelphia area to check on the status of their loved ones.
The website is redcross.org/safeandwell.
Not only can Philadelphia residents check on the status of their loved ones, but they may also go to this website to post a message for a loved one if they arrive at a Red Cross Shelter. Philadelphia residents can check from a list of people who have registered on the website. Residents in the Oklahoma City area can post that they are okay, and these messages can even be posted directly to their Facebook and/or Twitter accounts.
Safe and Well is very helpful in the aftermath of a disaster, like the one that hit Oklahoma City, especially when phones are down and communication is difficult.
It could take local Red Cross workers 12-36 hours to respond to a formal request for help. The time is based on the needs of the affected chapter.
