A woman is facing a list of charges in connection with an accident that killed a teenaged boy last month.

Sarah Ann Derstein was arrested Friday after officials said she was responsible for hitting two teenagers walking on the side of a Hatfield Twp. road, killing one of them.

The accident happened April 26 on Route 309 near Mill Road around 11:30 p.m. as Dennis Kee and Deshawn Page were walking next to the shoulder of the road with three other friends.

Officials said Derstein hit Kee and Page with her car while she was texting and drunk. Her blood alcohol content was .167, which is more than twice the Pa.  legal limit.

Kee was thrown over the guardrail and landed in a field 10-15 feet from the road. He was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital about an hour later.

Page suffered a broken elbow.

Officials said she fled the scene while the others ran for help. She returned to the crash scene about 45 minutes later.

Derstein faces charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, homicide by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person, and charges.
