Water main break wreaks havoc in Pottstown
Crews are still working to fix a water main that burst in Pottstown Thursday evening.
Crews are replacing the 20-inch main, which spilled more than two million gallons of water after rupturing in the 200 block of Berks Street around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The pipe comes from an old reservoir line with parts of the pipe dating back to 1890.
Twelve homes and one business are currently affected by the break.
Officials aren't expecting water service to be restored for at least another four hours. Once it is, a boil water advisory will be in effect until at least Sunday.
Several roads in the area were closed following the main break.
