Man in basement captivity case heads to trial
Man goes to trial for philly basement case
A man facing charges in connection with the Philadelphia basement captivity case is heading to trial.
Eddie Wright is facing assault and kidnapping charges in connection with a scheme run by Linda Ann Weston.
The scheme involved kidnapping mentally disabled victims and stealing their Social Security checks.
In December, a different judge dismissed charges against Wright. He said testimony showed that Wright was also a victim of Linda Weston, who prosecutors said was the scheme's mastermind.
But prosecutors refiled charges. They presented documents Thursday that they say prove Wright and Weston worked together.
Weston and two others are being held for trial. They haven't entered pleas.
