Man working on water tower in Lower Providence Township falls to his death
An incident in Montgomery County has left one man dead after he fell into an 80-foot water tower and another man was left to dangle.
It happened around 11:00 Wednesday morning in Lower Providence Township.
Officials say three men from Corrosion Control Corporation of Pedtricktown, New Jersey were doing maintenance work inside the empty tower, on Featherbed Lane.
They say 31-year-old Jason Schmidt of Jacobus, York County, fell to the ground level and died.
Another worker, 38-year-old Miguel Martinez of Pennsgrove, Salem County. N.J., was suspended by a safety harness. A third worker called 911 for help. It took emergency crews more than three hours to rescue Martinez.
There's no word on his condition.
The tower is owned and operated by Audubon Water Company.
