Montgomery County clerk appeals same sex marriage ruling
The Montgomery County clerk who was ordered to stop issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples is taking his fight to the state's highest court.
Register of Wills Bruce Hanes is appealing a recent Commonwealth Court ruling to the state Supreme Court.
Last month Hanes was ordered to stop issuing marriage licenses to gay couples.
He had issued a total of 174 licenses before the ruling.
