New Hope police shoot man they say pointed gun at them

Police in Bucks County say they had to open fire... after they found themselves staring down the barrel of a man's gun.

The incident happened Saturday night at a home on North Main Street in New Hope.

Police say they were trying to take a man into custody to be committed for mental health treatment.

Police say that man pointed a gun at them... and they responded by firing several shots.

The man was hit in the stomach.

None of the officers was hurt.
