Local military families now have a face to go with the name "Operation Homefront."

The group's first physical office for Pennsylvania and Delaware opened Thursday in Souderton, Montgomery County.

Operation Homefront is a national non-profit group that was started in 2002 in response to the 9/11 terror attacks.

It helps military families with the basics -- shelter, health care and other financial aid.

"The idea of our program is to prevent the snowballing effect where if you don't have one bill paid it can snowball into other problems: homelessness, hunger and even worse problems than that," said the executive director of the PA/DE field office Peter Stinson.

Operation Homefront also says even though the U.S. military is decreasing its presence in Afghanistan the need for its services continues to rise.
