PHILADELPHIA -

An off-duty Philadelphia police officer, who was fatally struck while riding his bicycle, may have been targeted by a motorist following an argument, investigators said.

Ofc. Marc Brady was struck late Sunday night at Masgrave Street and East Meehan Avenue in the city's East Mount Airy neighborhood, police said. He died at a hospital a short time later.

The driver of the car that hit Brady left the scene, but the car stopped nearby, police said. Investigators said they believe the driver knew the officer and intentionally targeted him after some kind of dispute.

The driver is in custody, but no charges have been filed.

Brady's death comes just days after the Philadelphia police force buried another officer, Brian Lorenzo, who was hit by an allegedly drunk driver going the wrong way on Interstate 95 last week.
