Police: Body found in burning car

A body was found in a burning car in Chester County Thursday.

EAST WHITELAND TWP., Pa. -

A Chester County fire company thought they were putting out a car fire; instead they found a body in the burning car.

The East Whiteland Fire Company went to 3285 Phoenixville Pike in Charlestown Twp. to put out a burning 2005 red Ford Focus around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The firefighters discovered a body inside the car and immediately notified state police.

The state police at Embreeville are investigating the cause of death and the origina and cause of the fire.

The name of the victim won't be known until after an an autopsy.

Assisting state police on the scene were Chester County fire marshals, Chester County coroner's office, East Whiteland Fire Company, Chester County HAZMat Agency and the local ATF office.
