HORSHAM TWP., Pa. -

A high school cross country coach is in trouble with the law for allegedly providing alcoholic beverages to a student, authorities announced Wednesday.

William Lichtner supplied a 17-year-old female student at Hatboro-Horsham High School in Montgomery County with alcoholic beverages eight times over the past six months, said the Montgomery County district attorney and Horsham Township police.

Lichnter, 24, of Ambler, served as the cross country coach at Hatboro-Horsham for the past two years, said officials, who began their investigation after the girl made the allegations against Lichtner to school officials on May 24.

Lichtner was arraigned Wednesday on charges of corruption of minors and furnishing liquor to minors. He remains free on unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is set for June 27, officials said.
