PHILADELPHIA -

A Philadelphia man faces charges of homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter after allegedly running down an off-duty police officer who previously dated his girlfriend.

Kareem Alleyne was arraigned Tuesday morning after police said he intentionally hit Ofc. Marc Brady with his car in the city's Mount Airy neighborhood.

Alleyne, 35, swerved and struck Brady as he rode his bike late Sunday night, investigators said.

There was "bad blood" between the two men because Alleyne was dating Brady's ex, homicide detectives said.

The two men had a chance encounter, but Alleyne targeted Brady after spotting him, authorities said.

Alleyne was released on bail early Tuesday. Online court records don't list an attorney for him and no phone listing could immediately be located.
