Proposed commerce center in Milford Township
Hundreds of jobs could be coming to part of Bucks County.
A developer has plans to create a commerce center in Milford Township, near the Quakertown interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
"They are all zoned planned industrial which means they are ready to go for that purpose," said Milford Township Supervisor Tom Courduff of the lots that are part of the project.
Developer Jerry Gorski, president of Gorski Engineering, Inc., would like to attract businesses to set up in the proposed Milford Commerce Center.
"We feel the time is right to market the sites," he told 69 News. "We can build buildings from 20,000 square feet up to 250,000 square feet."
The sites are water and sewer ready and close to the Quakertown exit of the Northeast Extension.
"The advantage of the Quakertown interchange in the available workforce," said Gorski.
Courduff said this is a project he would like to see happen.
"If it's done properly, yes, and I believe it will be," he said. "Mr. Gorski has a track record of doing things right."
Gorski said when the commerce center is fully developed, it would mean more than 600 jobs and more than $30 million of real estate value.
"Six hundred jobs, that's really substantial," said Courduff.
Tuesday township supervisors approved a plan for the developer to set up a temporary trailer to meet with potential businesses for the center. That will be set up near a produce stand along Route 663.
Once there is a business that agrees to come to the center, Courduff said, "The next step would be submission of a land development plan and getting all the permits and approvals necessary to construct."
"We don't have any of the sites under agreement at this point and yes, we really want to actively market it and attract users to this location," said Gorski.
Courduff said, "If you're involved in local government, sometimes you get an opportunity to do things right and Milford Township, believe we've done all the right things to attract this kind of development."
