QUAKERTOWN, Pa. -

Quakertown's bravest will soon have a new piece of equipment to help them keep the borough's citizens safe.

Borough Council held a public hearing Wednesday night to consider the approval of a proposed tax-exempt qualified note for the Fire Department.

The council unanimously gave approval for a $730,000 financing for a Pierce Arrow Rescue Truck for the West End Fire Company No. 2 located at 1319 Park Ave., Quakertown.

QNB has approved the financing, the loan was approved and they are working their way towards closing. The council approved a bond, which qualifies for tax exemption.

The fire truck is a brand new vehicle and is set to replace an old truck, which was on the replacement schedule.
