National Penn Bank in Pottstown hit twice in less than a month
Quick work by police led to the arrest of a man accused of robbing a National Penn Bank in Pottstown Tuesday morning.
The crime happened just before noon in the 300 block of E. High Street.
A man entered the National Penn Bank and demanded money, investigators said.
No weapon was displayed and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
"Wow, that's pretty crazy that it could happen right in the middle of the day," said Kathy Malencheck, neighbor.
After the robbery, police searched the neighborhood, during which time they located more evidence, investigators said.
"I think it's shocking that we live in a community where this would happen. It's sad when you're not even safe in your own town," said Justin Fichtel, neighbor.
The investigation culminated with the identification and arrest of Pottstown resident Christopher Lee Blount, police said.
Blount was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
Blount is being held pending arraignment for: robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, and related charges.
