The Montgomery County SWAT team has responded to a man in crisis.

Franconia Township police say they were alerted by the friend of a 54-year-old man that the man was drinking and despondent about a personal issue.

Police say they were also made aware that the man has guns in his home.

Police responded to the 100 block of Bartlett Court around 2:30pm Tuesday.

The man did not respond to multiple knocks on the front nor to phone calls, police said.

As they worried more about his well being, they called in additional police from neighboring police departments and the Montgomery County SWAT team.

SWAT continued to make contact with the man throughout the day.

Residents nearby his home were evacuated from their homes for safety, police said, although they do not believe there is any threat to the public.

At around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night, the situation ended peacefully. The 54-year-old man was taken into custody without incident and was transported to a mental health facility for an evaluation.
