Ummad Rushdi charged with killing missing 7-month-old boy, Hamza Ali
A central Pennsylvania man has been charged with homicide in the killing a 7-month-old boy who's been missing for more than three weeks.
Detectives again sought the location of Hamza Ali's body from the defendant Ummad Rushdi, Chief Michael Chitwood, Upper Darby Twp. Police Dept., said Tuesday.
Rushdi told a detective that Hamza's body "can't be retrieved," Chitwood said.
Rushdi had recently become the boyfriend of Hamza's mother, and they lived in the York suburbs.
Rushdi's lawyer, Mike Malloy, said he wasn't aware of the new charges and declined comment.
Ummad had previously been jailed on kidnapping and other charges.
Along with homicide, police on Tuesday also filed charges of kidnapping to facilitate a felony and inflict injury or terror, concealment of a child's whereabouts, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
