READING, Pa. - A New Jersey State Police trooper on Gov. Chris Christie's security detail has been accepted by a judge into a program for first-time offenders.
Tpr. William Carvounis tried to leave Cabela's in Tilden Twp., Berks Co., with more than $260 worth of merchandise on Jan. 8, according to court documents.
Carvounis was charged with two counts of retail theft, one a misdemeanor; the other a summary offense.
Carvounis has been accepted into accelerated rehabilitative disposition, or ARD, program. If he successfully completes the program, his record will be expunged, officials said.
