Officials bust major heroin trafficking operation in Monroe County

Police in Monroe Co. arrest 3 in heroin trafficking case

BARRETT TWP., Pa. - Officials in Monroe County have busted a major heroin trafficking operation.

After a nine-month investigation, the Monroe County Drug Task Force used a warrant to search a home on Sand Spring in Barrett Township on Friday.

The search turned up 30 bricks of heroin with a street value of around $30,000, two loaded handguns, a bulletproof vest and about $5,000 in cash.

Officers found Vincent Amatrudi, his girlfriend, Nicole Vanwhy, and a 4-year-old child in the home.

Also in the house was "Script King" Bryn Stevenson, who is currently out of jail on $150,000 bail related to a major prescription drug distribution investigation.

Amatrudi, 40, and Vanwhy, 22, were charged with criminal conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of instruments of a crime, persons not to possess a firearm, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Stevenson was found to have drug paraphernalia in his vehicle parked in the driveway. He will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Amatrudi and Vanwhy were committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 and $50,000 bail respectfully.

A preliminary hearing is set for Thursday.

The 4-year-old child was put in the care of Monroe County Children and Youth Services.
