One teen killed, another severely injured in Schuylkill County crash

PORTER TWP., Pa. - A 17-year-old boy was killed and another 17-year-old boy severely injured in a one-car crash in Schuylkill County early Sunday morning.

It happened just before 4 a.m. along Route 209, about 1/2 mile north of North Keystone Street, in Porter Township.

State police say the driver lost control while going around a curve. The vehicle, a Chevy Cobalt, ran off the road, rolled onto its side, crashed into a tree and then spun back onto the road before coming to a rest on its roof.

The driver died at the scene. His name has not been released.

The passenger was flown to Hershey Medical Center. There's no word on his condition.

Both boys were wearing seat-belts.

Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
