Only about half of Americans expected to celebrate Valentine's Day this year

About half of Americans won't participate in Valentine's Day this year.

The National Retail Federation says that last year only 54 percent of Americans celebrated Valentine's Day.

The NRF says jewelry is the most popular gift. 

Lots of flowers and candy will be bought as well.

Total spending for the February 14th holiday is expected to top $18 billion.
