Out-of-control car crashes into pet store in Salisbury Twp.

Driver may have had seizure before accident

Vehicle plows into bird shop

SALISBURY TWP., Pa. - There were some angry birds when a driver took a wrong turn and crashed into a pet store in Lehigh County.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at 3235 W. Emaus Ave. in Salisbury Township.

Officers arrived on the scene to find a vehicle inside the Bird Mania pet store. The officers and firefighters managed to free the male driver from his vehicle. He was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

While no animals were injured in the accident, firefighters helped remove several exotic birds from the store, which was heavily damaged, police said.

The accident remains under investigation, but dispatchers with the Lehigh County Communications Center told 69 News that the driver may have had a seizure before the crash. Police said they haven't been able to verify that information.
