WASHINGTON -

U.S. Senator for Pa. Bob Casey says federal highway projects across Pa. could cause the nation to grind to a halt without action by Congress.

According to Casey's statement, the Transportation Dept. projects that the Highway Trust Fund will have a shortfall as soon as late July and unless Congress acts quickly, the nation could grind to a halt.

He also says regional data shows stopping road projects in the middle of construction season would harm Pa's economy and stunt job growth, and, would result in a transportation shutdown.

Casey is pushing for the passage of a measure that will keep the Highway Trust Fund solvent and keep critical job-creating infrastructure projects on track for the year.
