Woman robs Family Dollar

READING, Pa. - Police are on the lookout for a pajama-clad woman who robbed a grocery store in northwest Reading.

The holdup happened shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Family Dollar store in the 400 block of West Douglass Street.

Initial reports from the scene were that the woman demanded money from a cash register and then left the store, possibly getting into a vehicle.

The robber was described as a short, heavyset woman, possibly 250 pounds, in her late 40s or 50s and was initially said to be wearing a white t-shirt and pajama pants.  Later reports said she was wearing a pajama shirt and khaki shorts.

Anyone with information about the robbery can call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward is offered for an anonymous tip that leads to an arrest.

The Family Dollar store was temporarily closed after the robbery while police conducted their investigation.
